Prosjektbeskrivelse: |
The aim of this project is to re-engineer the database tier of the Miriam gas application. The idea is
to redesign the database to increase the performances and include new features. This means making
a complete audit of the current system, studying the bottlenecks, and the requirements for the next
release and propose a new database design as well as redoing the complete DB access design in
Java using tools such as JDBC or Hibernate. The final implementation will have to be on MySQL
using the most appropriate table type. The student will have the opportunity to try different approaches and different tools and come back with the solution they have found best during their performances tests. In addition to the redesign and the port, the idea is to study the most efficient and secured way of making DB access layer (Transaction, static objects, singleton, pools, etc ...)
Ideally the student will provide two classes to read from the database and store in XML and viceversa
in order to run more extensive parallel tests on our cluster later and validate the proposal. The
format of the XML file will be defined in cooperation with Miriam development team.
