Prosjektbeskrivelse: Background:
Many of Accenture’s clients have one or more performance/operations critical system that needs real-time monitoring of both performance and uptime of system critical processes. Accenture would like to offer a flexible framework in order to provide monitoring capabilities to different clients with different critical systems. Main areas of focus will be on re-usability, easily customizable/expandable framework, efficiently alerting and informing about the systems status and on reporting and displaying results.

High Level Plan:
The students will participate in the following project phases:

  1. Analyze – analyze functional and technical requirements
  2. Design – create functional and technical design, plan test
  3. Build – build and unit test the software, create documentation and training material
  4. Test – execute tests and resolve errors
Project duration is from January 2008 to May/June 2008. Accenture estimates that a project team of 3-4 students will support our demands.

Technology Platform:
Java – One of Accenture's core technologies. A web-tier for real-time display of the monitoring, e.g. graphs, a middleware to handle the database connectivity and the requests from web.

SQL, PL/SQL – Developing SQLs to query the results, produce reports etc, extract and transform data into datawarehouse.

Webstudio – Develop and publish websites.

Oracle portfolio – Oracle is one of Accenture’s partners and a range of Oracle’s products will be in focus, among other Oracle 10g/11g database, Oracle Warehouse builder, JDeveloper.
 

Hva gjør denne oppgaven nyttig/interessant? Students will have the opportunity to work in a software development project for one of the worlds leading consulting companies. After completing this project they will have
  • Worked on developing software which is very relevant and highly valued by clients enabling them to have greater control over critical systems
  • Experienced how professional software development  processes are implemented in the real world
  • Interacting with real-life clients
  • Learned the importance of industrialization techniques and software development methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with Java programming, Oracle Databases, data warehousing and report development.
  • Broader project management experience; time reporting, estimating, status reporting, handling open issues and risks in a large project 
  • Built deeper industry relevant technology skills
  • Exposed their personal qualities for Accenture

 

Evt. krav til studentenes forkunnskaper: English will be used as documentation language. It is an advantage with good knowledge about programming and/or databases.

Annet: General Conditions:
The following conditions apply:
  • There will be some sessions at Accenture's site in Oslo
  • Necessary infrastructure and IT-equipment will be provided
  • Accenture will be responsible for training and supporting the students during the project period. Students will report status weekly to their project supervisor
  • Students must sign confidentiality forms and non disclosure agreements
  • Accenture will own the intellectual property of the software developed
  • Students must adhere to the Accenture code of business ethics and follow Accenture's dress code
